little Julia...

So, one of my clients stopped by to pick up some images she ordered from a session we did this past summer. While sharing the photographs with Julia's mom, they all brought smiles to us when we recalled the actual session with little miss julia. She started inside, but in typical 2 year old fashion, she just wanted to stay outside and play.....who could blame her? I just followed her around, played peek a boo behind trees, ran barefoot with her, and when her Daddy showed up, she giggled and ran straight to his open arms! Which, by the way, created a very cute Christmas gift...to constantly be reminded of how wonderful those hugs can be!! And, even though summer seems far off...it doesn't seem like June was so long ago when we photographed her playing! The days are just a flyin, and with the craziness of the holidays about to take over...be sure to keep those hugs coming!!!!

so I've been bad at keeping my blog current...

So.....yes, I've been not a good blogger at all. The holiday rush of sessions and editing and Christmas card designing has been wonderfully busy!! Just barely keeping my head above water with the day to day business, but let's just add another bit of craziness and decide to get a new puppy! We brought home "Gunnar" last Saturday, after many months of deciding whether or not to add to an already crazy schedule. But, so far, so good....he's been a quick learner so far, just a few messes, but a fun little buddy for me during the day. His constant need to go outside at this age is keeping me from totally becoming "one" with my computer chair while trying to keep all my session processing "on time", so actually, it's a good thing! He's a Vizsla, 12 weeks old, and just LOVES being by us. And, actually, we kinda like it too! More to follow!!

they're back, plus one!!

I have had so much fun watching this young little family grow up! They have come to me for 4 years in a row, and this time, the girls had a baby brother in tow! Although not able to stand by himself yet, when I see Ryan and his sisters, Alyssa and Madison next summer, I'm sure he'll be holding his own with no problem at all! GREAT to see everyone again!

just between friends...

High school senior, Sara and her 4-legged companion, Dusty came to me so we could capture some emotional images of two special friends, before Sara heads off to college. She has been riding and showing Dusty for years, and will surely miss her very special friend. Having horses of my own at that emotional age of 18, I remember it well.

running for chocolate!

So, Jennifer's company, Illinois Bone & Joint, Inc. helped sponsor, along with Hershey's, a fun 5-15k Chocolate Run in Chicago, down along the lakeside on Nov. 1st. We were there to help with all the craziness and of course, to take pictures! IBJI employees gave free 5 minute stretches before and after the race....and, even with 12 beds, there was a continual line of runners waiting! 2008 was the first year for this race, with 1,300 runners. 2009 it jumped to 13,000!! Perfect weather, great people, lots of chocolate and a whole lotta leggin' going on!!

keeping the green...

Passed by this little piece of "serenity" on my way to Crystal Lake, but after passing by, had to turn around to grab a quick picture of it. So peaceful and "fall like", with a beautiful oak tree reflection, right along Country Club Road. Just loved how there was still a bit of stubborn green just hanging on in the front. Not quite ready to succumb to the fall/winter. Made me smile.

fall, family time!

Been so busy photographing fall sessions, and trying to get everyone in before all the leaves were completely gone, I kind of forgot about my poor little blog. So, in paying a bit more attention to this, just had to share one of my favorite young families that came to me again this fall for some fun, casual, outside "together" pictures. Little Karson, just a bit over 2 years old, was mostly curious about everything other than the lense of my camera. Which was just fine....this is how 2 year olds are suppposed to be! Plus, it allowed for some everyday fun moments for all, while Kylie sure had fun drenching her little brother in a downpour of leaves!

generations...

I had the opportunity to photograph a generation of wonderful women while Grandma was in town from Hawaii for one of the girls' graduations, and before one of the other sisters left for Fort Leonard, MO to start her boot camp for the Army National Guard. What a great group of women, and although we did get a nice "formal" shot....my favorite was the one with Grandma just "loving" being with her girls. After photographing all the family, we decided to do a few fun shots with the youngest of the generation, sweet little, Gwen....see below.

sweet little Gwen...

okay.......he HAS to just make you smile!

Another rainy cold day, so I've been doing some testing with my lighting. I had a volunteer from my "prop bin".....he cooperated rather nicely, thank you. Did exactly as I asked. Kept doing this "peek a boo" thing.......pretty cute.

a hazy morning...

Sooooooo, the colder weather is coming to us early and with that, it's allowing me a bit of time to get this blog up and running since it's too cold to go outside and work, along with some of my sessions being cancelled due to the rain and cold, I figure this is as good a time as any to familiarize myself with the blog concept. I've been wanting to start this for some time.....and since I'm in a bit of transition with my business, this should work out great to keep connected with everyone until time allows for a more formal website. So......it's my first post and picture.......how did I do??
